 Rant v. i. [imp. & p. p. Ranted; p. pr. & vb. n. Ranting.]  To rave in violent, high-sounding, or extravagant language, without dignity of thought; to be noisy, boisterous, and bombastic in talk or declamation; as, a ranting preacher.
