given

God

that
is

forfeited
to
the
crown
,
to
be
applied
to
pious
uses

and
distributed
in
alms
by
the
high
almoner

Thus

if
a
cart
ran
over
a
man
and
killed
him
,
it
was
forfeited
as
a
deodand
.
