 Path·o·gen, Path·o·gene n.  Biol. Any microorganism which causes disease; a pathogenic organism; an infectious microorganism; a bacterium, virus, or other agent which can cause disease by infection; -- opposed to zymogene.  The spelling pathogene is now archaic.
