 A·nath·e·ma n.; pl. Anathemas
 1. A ban or curse pronounced with religious solemnity by ecclesiastical authority, and accompanied by excommunication. Hence: Denunciation of anything as accursed.

 2. An imprecation; a curse; a malediction.
