tyrosine
plus

other
acid-stable
amino
acids
.
The
amino
acid
composition
varies

but
it
usually
has
a
high
percentage
of
cystine
,
which
stabilizes
and
insolubilizes
the
protein
by
forming
intrachain
linkages
.
A
softer
form
of
keratin
is
present
in
the
epidermis
and
whalebone
.
