 1. Thin; not dense or gross; rare; as, subtile air; subtile vapor; a subtile medium.
 2. Delicately constituted or constructed; nice; fine; delicate; tenuous; finely woven. “A sotil [subtile] twine's thread.”

 3. Acute; piercing; searching.
